Nowadays, SMD assembly has largely replaced THT technology due to the numerous advantages over through-hole assembly. The usual soldering of the components on the back is no longer necessary with SMD production, which means that assembly can be much denser and on both sides. This makes the production of the devices more efficient and significantly more cost-effective. In addition, the connecting wires are eliminated and smaller components are used. The high-frequency properties are also improved, as the component spacing is smaller and the conductor paths are shortened during SMD production. Thanks to automatic placement, production is much faster and the overall production costs of SMD assembly are significantly reduced.
